Oracle buys Stellent

If anyone still has doubts about ECM being mainstream, check this news here. Oracle has been toying around with content management for some time. They initially had “Content Services” which was part of their collaboration suite. To bring in more focus (and more business), they moved it to the database group and called their ECM offerings as Content DB and Records DB.

This will give Oracle a lot of depth as well as breadth in ECM space as Stellent will complement Oracle’s Content DB in all the areas – WCM, DAM, DM, Imaging and so on.

I guess, after IBM’s acquisition of FileNet, they were under much more pressure. So who’s the target for HP and Sun? Fatwire, Interwoven or Vignette?

BTW, I will be speaking at the cmf2006 in Aarhus, Denmark. If you are there and read this blog, let’s catch up.
