Discussion on Standards at cmf2007

So I’m speaking at the very nice cmf2007 conference at Aarhus on Wednesday, November 7th. I’m actually delighted to be joined by Jukka Zitting and Steve Millidge. Jukka’s on the expert group for JSRs 170 and 283 while Steve’s on the expert group for JSRs 168 and 286.

In the end, hopefully we’ll have a good discussion around standards (or the lack thereof) in the content space. JSR 168 (286) and JSR 170 (283) are probably the most important standards in this space. So if you are one of those who believe the ECM community is slow to accept standards or if you have any other questions, leave a comment or email me and I’ll surely put it to the experts 🙂

  1. OK here is my question for the experts:-

DBMSs achieved standardization through SQL, ODBC and JDBC. Why have ECM systems not adopted the same approach?

  2. Thanks for the inputs. I also believe the progress has been slower that expected and hopefully things will improve if there’s enough demand from customers.Idea was to take an example which hopefully will explain what i was trying to say. Thanks for the help.
